Facebook fan page personalized URL

I am happy to announce that my Facebook fan page now has a personalized web address instead of the default, long, multi-character address that it was initially assigned. The link to the right has been updated with the new address of http://facebook.com/DannyLeeShepard. No content has been changed and use of the previous address will redirect to the new one.

How were you able to personalize your fan page url? I tried but couldn’t figure it out.

After you have created a fan page on Facebook, you must have at least 25 fans to personalize the page. When you decide to personalize your fan page, take a lot of consideration to what you will name it. You cannot go back and change it again once it has been personalized. If you already have 25 fans and need help finding the option to rename your page, please let me know.

Hey Danny,

Please could you let me know how to change my fan page URL? I have 488 fans and counting and when google returns my facebook fan page its a long URL.

Would love to know.

You have gained fans since your comment, including me!

Log into Facebook.

Go to: http://www.facebook.com/username/

You can give your Facebook page it’s own unique username. On the same page, you can also select each page you administer and name it. This is what you would do to name your fan page.

Be careful, you can only name a page once and cannot change it again once named!

I’ve a little problem :

I’ve already personalized an url for my fanpage but now I can’t work it out for the page of one of my friend. We log in with his account, we do the good process (facebook/username)…

We enter the name we want for his page :
Then facebook says “Usernames must be at least 5 characters long”.
The matter is the name we enter is longer than 5 characters.

I’ve tried many thing, but since friday I can’t change it.

Did you notice something ?
Can you help me ?
